Orientation for the Bible Based First Place for Health total Wellness Program will take place on Tues. Jan. 17 at 7:00p.m. in Rm. 10 of the Center and again on Sun. Jan. 22 at 10:00a.m. Rm. 6. The Fall 2011 Session of First Place 4 Health, a Christ-centered total wellness program, will be offered at Saint Maria Goretti Church beginning the first week in October (Sunday, October 2nd and Tuesday, October 4th).
This bible-based wellness program is more than just a weight loss program. Rather, it is for anyone interested in total wellness. In addition to learning how to eat healthy and how to establish an individualized exercise program, participants learn how to handle the everyday stress in life by learning to make Christ First in their lives. Members following the program report having success losing weight, lowering cholesterol, controlling blood glucose levels, and lowering blood pressure. Yet, most participants report that the bible study has been the most rewarding part of the program.

In order to participate in the program you must attend one of the orientation meetings, where you will learn more about the program and the cost of the materials needed to participate. Orientation meetings will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Room 6 of the Center and at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in Room 10 of the Center. First Place 4 Health is a total wellness program designed to assist participants learn to lead a balanced life in a world that is often unbalanced. This bible-based wellness program, which originally started out as a Christian weight loss program, focuses on the directive of Matthew 6:33, a verse that reminds us to make living the life Christ calls us to live our number 1 priority. Mark 12:30, another key bible verse, teaches us that we make Christ the Center of our lives by learning to love him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. In order to accomplish this in our daily lives we learn techniques and disciplines to improve our spiritual lives. Additionally, we learn the basics of establishing healthy eating and exercising habits, as well as helpful techniques for maintaining good mental and emotional health.
There is no charge for participating in this twelve-week program, and it is not necessary to be a member of any church to participate. All are welcome to join us. However, new participants must purchase or have access to a member's kit and the bible study being used for the current session. Continuing participants only need the bible study book. Information on prices and sources for obtaining the materials will be provided at orientation and at the first class.
In order to make the program available to as many people as possible, the First Place 4 Health program at St. Maria Goretti will be offered at four different times this session.
Times and meeting locations for the classes are as follows:
Wednesdays, beginning on January 27, 2010 at 7:00 PM in Room 10 of the Center
Saturdays, beginning on January 30, 2010 at 10:30 AM in Room 10 of the Center
Saturdays, beginning on January 30, 2010 at 1:30 PM in Room 10 of the Center (this class is for beginners only)
Sundays, beginning on January 31, 2010 at 10:00 AM in Room 6 of the Center
The bible study book for the Saturday afternoon beginners class will be Begin with Christ.
The bible study book for all other classes will be Growing in the Fruit of the Spirit.
In order to participate in the program, attendance at an orientation session is mandatory. If you missed the orientations held earlier in the month of January, you must contact one of the class leaders listed below and attend a make up orientation which will be held at the first class. No new participants can be accepted for this session after the first class meeting.
